First, rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch. In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, butter, and water or broth. Bring to a boil over high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let the rice simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.
